This rug is woven by Amazigh women carrying on craft methods rooted in the Atlas Mountains, where handweaving traditions predate written records in the region. The Tiftilin weavers of the Middle Atlas represent the closest documented artisan cooperative for these handwoven rugs — their work preserves Amazigh textile traditions that have been sustained across centuries. Cactus silk (sabra) is extracted from Agave cactus leaves through a labor-intensive process of beating, soaking, and spinning, producing fibers with a natural sheen that synthetic materials cannot replicate. This handwoven process, from fiber preparation to finished rug, requires weeks of sustained work on a vertical loom.

Care & Longevity

Cactus silk flatweave rugs reward consistent, gentle care. Vacuum regularly on the lowest suction setting with no beater bar, rotate every six months to even wear, and spot-clean with cold water and mild soap only.
