The most architecturally distinctive teapot in the collection. This oblate engraved silver teapot takes a dramatic disc form — substantially wider than it is tall — sitting low and wide on four pierced openwork feet. A continuous band of hand-engraved circular medallion motifs runs around the widest circumference of the body, visible from every angle. The result is a silver-plated brass teapot that reads less like a conventional vessel and more like a sculptural centrepiece for the tea table.
The Oblate Disc Form
Where most teapots in this collection use a rounded or elongated body, this one is oblate — its width significantly exceeds its height. That low, wide silhouette gives the circular medallion band maximum visual surface, letting the engraved detailing wrap uninterrupted around the body’s widest point. The four pierced openwork feet carry as much decorative presence as the body itself, with cut-out patterns that lift the teapot and cast shadows on the surface below.
Hand-Engraved Circular Medallion Band
Each circular medallion along the band is cut by hand into the silver-plated surface using fine metalworking tools. Hand engraving is the practice of incising decorative lines directly into metal by hand, and it is the primary technique on this teapot. No two medallions are machine-identical — the hand-carved quality shows in slight variations of line depth and spacing. The teapot also includes a built-in strainer inside the spout, so loose tea leaves stay contained while pouring.

Craftsmanship from the Marrakech Medina
This teapot comes from the workshop of Kamal, a silver-plated brass metalwork artisan based in the Marrakech medina. Kamal’s workshop in the Marrakech medina specialises in hand-engraved silver-plated brass tableware, carrying forward a metalworking tradition practiced in the city for generations. The oblate disc form requires careful planning: the wide body must be shaped and balanced so the teapot sits evenly on its four openwork feet, and the engraving band must wrap the full circumference without a visible seam.
For those who serve Moroccan mint tea regularly, the low wide silhouette and continuous medallion band make this teapot a natural focal point for the tea ceremony table — and a distinctive engraved oblate tea service gift for a collector who already owns rounded or tall-form silver teapots.
Care and Styling
Wash by hand with mild soap and warm water, then dry promptly with a soft cloth to prevent water spots. Do not place in the dishwasher or on a stovetop. To preserve the engraved detailing and silver-plated finish, avoid abrasive cleaners. For full guidance, see our teapot care guide.
On a shelf or sideboard, the oblate disc form catches light differently than a conventional teapot — the wide body reflects more surface area, while the pierced feet create a sense of elevation even though the teapot sits low. It pairs well with a silver or brass tray and a set of small tea glasses.
Complete the Moroccan tea service: pair this teapot with a complete tea set including beldi glasses and a serving tray, or choose individual beldi tea glasses and a hand-engraved serving tray separately.
Wholesale and trade enquiries are welcome — this teapot is available through our wholesale Moroccan products programme for retailers and hospitality buyers.
