This small straw bag brings the tactile warmth of a Moroccan souk right to your hands. The body is woven from natural palm leaf fibers, their matte, slightly textured surface catching the light in a way that feels both earthy and intentional. Run your fingers over the braided top rim—it’s reinforced to hold its shape even when the basket is empty, yet flexible enough to give a little when you tuck in your daily essentials. The open-top design makes grabbing your phone or sunglasses effortless, while the two integrated handles, wrapped in the same straw, sit comfortably in your palm or crook of your arm.

The real charm lies in the floral embroidery. Each stylized flower is built with yarn-wrapped petals in alternating fuchsia pink and crisp white, centered with a white eye that pops against the natural beige background. The yarn appliqué is hand-stitched, so you’ll notice slight variations in petal placement—a quiet reminder that this piece was shaped by human hands, not a machine. It’s the kind of detail that makes you pause and appreciate the skill behind it, a skill honed by Dounia, our master straw artisan, who has been weaving these baskets for decades in her Moroccan workshop.

A Note from Experience

Because this is a natural, unlined straw basket, you may notice a few loose fibers during the first few uses—this is normal and will diminish over time. The yarn embroidery is securely stitched, but we recommend avoiding snagging on sharp objects. The palm leaf will also develop a subtle patina with exposure to sunlight, deepening its warm beige tone. If you prefer a crisp look, simply store it away from direct light when not in use.

Your Questions Answered

Is this bag lined?

No, it’s intentionally left unlined to keep the basket lightweight and breathable. Small items like keys or coins may slip through the weave, so we suggest using a pouch or scarf as a liner if you plan to carry very tiny objects.

What can I fit inside?

This small straw bag easily holds a wallet, phone, sunglasses, a small water bottle, and a few personal items. It won’t accommodate a laptop or large tablet, but it’s perfect for farmers’ market runs, beach days, or a casual lunch out.

How do I care for it?

Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking the basket, as prolonged moisture can weaken the palm leaf fibers. Let it air dry completely before storing. To reshape after use, gently press the sides back into a round form while slightly damp.

Will the colors fade?

The yarn is colorfast, but like any natural material, prolonged exposure to intense sunlight may cause gradual softening of the fuchsia pink. This only adds to the basket’s lived-in character.
