This gold leaf pendant light pairs two finishes that rarely meet: a hand-hammered copper dome darkened to a deep bronze patina flecked with verdigris green, and a band and interior laid in imitation gold leaf. Switched off, the shade reads as an aged, sculptural form. Switched on, the leafed interior catches the bulb and spreads a warm, golden pool of light across the table or island below.

Dinanderie Copper by Abdul Jalil
Each dome is shaped by Abdul Jalil, the master lamp artisan of Souq Nhas, who has worked copper and brass in Marrakech’s old metalworkers’ market for more than 30 years. He uses Dinanderie, the hand-hammering technique that turns a flat copper sheet into a three-dimensional form with a progression of hammer heads on an iron anvil. No two blows land the same way, so the hammered surface, the patina and the edge of the gold leaf vary slightly from one lamp to the next.
Where It Works Best
Hang three in a row above a kitchen island, a single 50–70 cm dome over a dining table, or a smaller size beside a bed or reading chair. The aged copper sits comfortably with oak, marble, linen and limewashed walls, while the gold interior brings warmth to pared-back modern rooms. Browse our full Moroccan lighting collection to pair it with wall and table lamps.
Care
Dust the dome and the gold-leaf band with a soft, dry cloth. Patina and leaf are surface finishes, so avoid water, metal cleaners and polish on both. Our brass care and polishing guide explains how patina forms on copper and brass; on this lamp the patina is part of the design, so leave it unpolished.
