The Weavers Behind This Rug

This rug is woven by the Tiftilin weavers of the Middle Atlas — Amazigh women who have passed this craft from mother to daughter across generations in the cedar-forested highlands south of Fès. Rugs woven in this Atlas Mountain tradition use 100% natural wool dyed with natural and vegetable dyes, a process that produces slight tonal variation and gives each piece its distinctive character. The high-pile shag technique creates a deeply cushioned surface that has insulated Atlas Mountain homes against cold winters for centuries.

Care & Longevity

Natural wool shag rugs reward simple, consistent care. Vacuum weekly on the lowest suction setting without a beater bar, rotate every six months to even out wear, and spot-clean only with cold water and mild soap.
