The gold engraved teapot moroccan is the only teapot in this collection with a gold finish. Every other teapot in the silver range is silver-plated brass — this one is gold-plated brass, with a warm amber tone rather than a cool silver one. Available in five sizes from Extra Small (250ml / 2 servings) to Extra Large (1.3L / 12 servings) — the widest size range in the gold teapot category.
Key Features & Benefits
- Gold-Plated Brass: Multi-layer gold plating applied over solid brass — the warm amber-to-gold tone is distinct from all other teapots in this collection and gives the piece a different visual temperature. Gold finish oxidises differently from silver, developing a deeper warmth with age rather than tarnishing grey.
- Geometric Arabesque Engraving: Hand-tooled geometric and arabesque patterns encircle the lower body — interlocking star, cross, and floral scroll motifs cut into the gold-plated surface using naqsh technique.
- Five Sizes: Extra Small (250ml / 2 servings), Small (450ml / 4), Medium (650ml / 6), Large (850ml / 8), and Extra Large (1.3L / 12 servings) — the same size flexibility as the silver scenic relief teapot, but in gold.
- Four Decorative Feet: The footed base lifts the teapot off any tray, with the same elevated ceremonial posture as the other footed teapots in the range.
- Also Included in Tea Sets: This teapot appears in several gold tea sets in the collection — see the complete tea sets collection if you want the teapot with matching gold glasses and tray.
The Artisan Story
Kamal’s workshop in Marrakech applies gold plating in the same multi-layer process as silver plating, but the plating chemistry differs and the finish is maintained differently. The arabesque engraving — applied after plating — must account for the warmer, less reflective quality of the gold surface: the naqsh cuts read slightly differently in gold than in silver, requiring the artisan to adjust depth and angle accordingly. Your Questions Answered
Q: What is the difference between gold-plated and gold brass?
A: Gold-plated means a silver or brass base covered with a thin gold layer through electroplating. This teapot is gold-plated brass — a brass base with gold plating applied. The gold tone is on the surface layer. Solid gold brass (a brass alloy with higher gold content) would be considerably heavier and more expensive. See the small brass teapot Hand-Engraved Gold Brass Teapot for a natural gold-tone brass without plating.
Q: Does gold plating require different care than silver plating?
A: Yes, slightly. Gold does not tarnish the same way silver does — it oxidises to a deeper warm tone rather than going grey. Gold-safe polish is recommended rather than standard silver polish to maintain the original bright gold finish. Otherwise the care routine (hand wash, dry immediately, polish every 3-4 months) is the same.
Q: Is this teapot included in any of the tea sets?
