A brass table lamp does more than light a surface — it anchors a corner, adds sculptural presence at eye level, and fills the space between floor and ceiling that pendant and wall lights leave unaddressed. The hand-engraved and hand-pierced designs in this collection work whether switched on or off: unlit, the engraved arabesque surface reads as decorative metalwork; lit, the cutwork activates and projects its pattern across the surrounding surfaces.
Every piece is crafted by Abdul Jalil’s team in Marrakech using traditional dinanderie, naqsh, and serrouj metalworking techniques in solid brass and copper. No plated finishes, no factory forms.
Table Lamps
Table lamp styles range from compact bedside pieces to substantial console lamps. The Brass Bedside Lamp (14″, one piece $95 / pair $145) is our most popular — hand-pierced arabesque pattern, warm shadow display, proportioned for nightstands. The Brass Filigree Table Lamp (12″, $95/$175 pair), Brass Oval Table Lamp (12″, $95/$175), and Brass Pear Table Lamp (12.5″, $119/$219) offer different silhouettes in the same fine engraving tradition. For more statement presence: the Brass Table Lamp Teardrop (44cm, $235) and the Perforated Brass Table Lamp ($175 / pair $219). All take standard E26/E27 bulbs.
Floor Lamps
The Brass Floor Lamp Teardrop (75cm, $735) is the collection’s architectural centrepiece — hand-pierced in a diamond pattern, standing 75cm tall on a solid brass base. At this scale, the shadow display covers an entire wall or ceiling plane. Position in corners, beside sofas, or at the end of a hallway to define zones and create dramatic ambient light.
We also carry a natural fiber alternative: the Round Straw Table Lamp with Lemon Wood Base ($173), handwoven by Dounia’s Al Amal cooperative — for spaces where the warmth of organic texture is preferred over metal.
All pieces ship free worldwide from Marrakech.
Brass Table & Floor Lamps Questions Answered
For compact table lamps (under 30cm height), use a 4–6W LED bulb (equivalent to 40W incandescent) in warm white (2700K–3000K). For larger table lamps and the floor lamp, 6–8W LED provides sufficient ambient light without overheating the enclosed shade. Always use LED rather than incandescent or halogen bulbs in enclosed brass shades — LEDs produce significantly less heat and extend the lamp's life. Avoid bulbs larger than E27 standard base as they may not seat correctly in the socket.
The Brass Floor Lamp Teardrop (75cm) has a weighted solid brass base designed for stability on flat surfaces. It should not be placed on uneven flooring or thick-pile rugs without checking stability first. Keep floor lamps out of high-traffic paths and away from areas where children or pets play actively. The lamp is not designed to be freestanding in outdoor or semi-outdoor environments — wind exposure can cause tipping. If using in a household with young children, consider securing the base with non-slip furniture pads.
Yes — several table lamp styles are available as single pieces or as identical pairs. The Brass Bedside Lamp (14") is available as one piece ($95) or a pair ($145). The Brass Filigree Table Lamp and Brass Oval Table Lamp offer the same single/pair pricing. Buying as a pair ensures a matched patina and engraving style — important for symmetrical bedside or console table placements. Because each lamp is handcrafted individually, pairs share the same design but will have very subtle natural variations, which is characteristic of genuine handwork.
Extremely well — the majority of our table lamp customers are styling contemporary, Scandinavian, and warm minimalist interiors rather than specifically Moroccan-themed rooms. A single engraved brass table lamp on a white console table, a linen bedside table, or a concrete shelf creates exactly the kind of material contrast and warm metallic accent that modern interior design relies on. The key is restraint: one or two brass pieces in a space that is otherwise neutral and textural. The craft quality justifies their presence in any design context.
Engraved lamps (naqsh technique) have patterns cut into the surface of the brass — the metal remains solid, creating a textured, relief-like surface that reads as decorative whether lit or unlit. The light exits through the top and bottom openings of the shade. Pierced lamps (serrouj technique) have the pattern fully cut through the metal — light exits through each hole, projecting the pattern onto surrounding surfaces as a shadow display. Engraved lamps provide softer, more directional light; pierced lamps are more dramatic and create a fuller room effect. Both techniques are used in combination on many pieces.
