What are Crescent Moon Almond Cookies?
Crescent Moons come from Spain’s old Moorish Quarter that dates back to around 1100 AD which is the origin of the almond-shaped snack “sablés au pain d’epices.” It was said that because these snacks originated among Berber nomads who observed the moon during their journey and consequently created dishes correspondingly shaped as different phases of it, they were called “moon horns” (gazelles horns). This type of biscuit became popular throughout Fez Gastronomy Festival where they can be seen alongside traditional Morrocan food such as pastries with honey fillings
