A coffee pot, not a teapot. This distinction matters before anything else: the tall cylindrical dallah form of the moroccan silver coffee pot hammered is associated with Arabic coffee service — spiced qahwa, Turkish coffee, espresso-style beverages — not with the round-bodied atay teapot tradition. It comes with a dedicated ornate display stand, making it the only piece in the collection designed to be presented as much as poured from.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Dallah Coffee Pot Form: The tall narrow cylindrical body with gently curved spout is the dallah form — the traditional North African and Arabian coffee service vessel. The form is functionally different from a teapot: narrower body, taller proportions, optimised for individual-cup coffee pours rather than multi-glass tea service.
  • Includes Display Stand: An ornate stand is included with the coffee pot — the only piece in this range with its own dedicated display stand. The stand elevates the coffee pot for table presentation when not in use.
  • Honeycomb Hammered Texture Band: The hammered band uses a honeycomb/hexagonal dimple pattern — slightly more geometric and uniform than the round-dimple hammering on the teapots, creating a denser visual texture.
  • Coral/Orange Tassel on Lid: A silk cord tassel is attached to the finial — a traditional detail on Moroccan and Gulf coffee pots that adds colour and identifies the piece as a coffee service vessel.
  • Three Sizes: Medium (650ml / 6 servings), Large (850ml / 8 servings), and Extra Large (1.3L / 12 servings).

The Artisan Story

Master metalworkers in Marrakech’s historic workshops shape this coffee pot using traditional Moroccan metalwork techniques. The tall cylindrical form requires different raising work from the round teapot body — keeping the walls consistently vertical requires more controlled hammer pressure than forming a curved shoulder. The honeycomb band is worked after forming, and the display stand is made separately. Kamal and his workshop produce both the pot and stand as a matched pair.

Your Questions Answered

Q: What is the difference between a coffee pot and a teapot in Moroccan tradition?
A: The teapot (barrad) in Moroccan tradition is the round-bodied vessel for mint tea (atay). The coffee pot (dallah or ibrik) is the tall cylindrical vessel for Arabic-style coffee (qahwa) — often spiced with cardamom and saffron, served in small handle-less cups. The forms are not interchangeable in traditional service, though they can be used for any hot beverage.

Q: Does the display stand serve a functional purpose or is it decorative?
A: Both. The stand holds the coffee pot at a stable elevated position — useful for service at a table where the stand keeps the pot from sliding. Between uses, it functions as a display platform that elevates the coffee pot as an object, as is traditional in formal Arabic hospitality settings.

Q: What is a honeycomb hammered texture vs standard hammering?
A: Standard hammered dimples are circular indentations in rows. Honeycomb hammering uses a hexagonal punch, creating cells with flat facets between them — the result is more geometric and regular than round-dimple hammering, with a denser appearance at the same surface area.
