A Backpack Built for Commutes and Weekend Escapes

The Leather Rolltop Backpack you reach for every morning — full-grain goat leather with solid brass hardware and a rolltop closure that cinches tight for city commutes and unrolls wide for weekend markets. At 15.0 x 11.0 x 3.1 in (38 x 28 x 8 cm) and approximately 800 grams, it carries daily essentials without weighing you down. The single main compartment opens wide under the rolltop, while two front zip pockets keep transit cards, keys, and phone within easy reach.

What Sets This Backpack Apart

  • Full-grain goat leather: the strongest layer of the hide, with the natural grain intact — it develops a rich patina with wear rather than cracking like corrected grain
  • Rolltop closure with buckle strap: adjustable volume — roll it down tight for a streamlined silhouette or open it up for bulkier loads
  • Solid brass hardware: buckles and rivets that resist corrosion and gain a mellow tone over time
  • Contrast tan stitching: hand-stitched with waxed thread, each seam reinforced to carry weight without skipping
  • Linen-lined interior: a clean surface that protects your belongings from direct contact with the leather’s curing oils
  • Two front zip pockets: exterior access for items you need on the go, without opening the main compartment
  • Weight: approximately 800 grams — manageable for all-day wear

The Artisan Behind This Bag

Omar, the Marrakech leather craftsman, works inside the Bab Debbagh tannery district — the centuries-old leather quarter of Marrakech, where hides are still soaked in limestone pits and moved through vats of natural dye the same way they have been for five hundred years. He selects full-grain goat leather — the top layer of the hide, with the grain intact — and cuts each panel by hand before stitching the seams tight enough to carry daily weight without a single skip. Bab Debbagh in Marrakech is among the few remaining places on earth where the full tanning cycle — from raw hide to finished leather — happens within two kilometers of where the bag is assembled.

Care & Longevity

Full-grain leather rewards patience: keep it dry, condition it two to three times a year with a beeswax or lanolin balm, and avoid prolonged direct sun. The warm brown tones will deepen into a richer shade as the patina develops over months of use. Follow our Moroccan leather care guide for conditioning schedules, stain removal tips, and how to encourage an even patina over the first year.
