The Weavers Behind This Rug

This rug is woven by the Tiftilin weavers of the Middle Atlas — Amazigh women who have passed handweaving knowledge from mother to daughter across generations in the cedar-forested highlands south of Fès. Each rug is hand-knotted on a vertical loom using techniques that have been documented among the most enduring examples of living North African textile craft. The terracotta squares and cream ground are achieved through natural plant-based dyes, producing a palette that deepens rather than fades with time.

Natural wool rugs reward simple, consistent care. Vacuum weekly on the lowest suction setting without a beater bar, rotate every six months to even out wear, and spot-clean only with cold water and mild soap.
