A Square Leather Floor Pouf Built for Real Life
This square leather floor pouf combines clean cubic geometry with hand-stitched diamond patterning — a low seat, footrest, or occasional table that moves between rooms as your day demands. Crafted from full-grain goat leather in Marrakech’s Souk Talaa leather district, each pouf is cut and sewn by hand, the diamond stitching raised across every panel to create a textured surface that shifts in tone with the light.
Construction & Surface Detail
- Square shape: available in five sizes from 14″ to 24″ (36 cm to 60 cm) — compact footrest to substantial low seat
- Full-grain goat leather: supple yet durable, in a warm light brown that deepens with use
- Diamond stitching and piped edges: hand-stitched geometric panels give each face a three-dimensional texture
- Zipper base: concealed zipper at the bottom allows filling and refilling
- Slight color variation: natural with hand-dyed leather — tonal shifts between panels mark handmade work, not a defect
- Filled or unfilled: ships flat (unfilled) by default for lower freight cost, with a filled option (polystyrene foam and cotton) available — fill an unfilled pouf with shredded foam, recycled fabric scraps, or old clothes; avoid loose polyfill or feathers
- Weight capacity: holds up to ~250 lb (115 kg) when filled
The Craft Behind This Pouf
Abdelilah and the leather artisans behind our poufs work in the souk workshops of Marrakech, selecting goat hides for suppleness before hand-cutting each diamond panel to a template. Full-grain goat leather poufs hand-stitched in Marrakech’s Souk Talaa leather district use panel construction where each seam is sewn through both layers simultaneously, distributing seating stress across the stitch rather than the hide. This pouf is made to order in small batches — please allow 5–7 business days for production before shipping.
Filling Your Pouf
This pouf ships flat and unfilled by default, keeping freight costs down. Fill it yourself with shredded foam, recycled fabric scraps, or densely packed old clothing — materials that hold shape under load without compressing flat. Follow our step-by-step guide to filling your pouf for recommended fill volumes and how to achieve a firm sit height. A pre-filled option with polystyrene foam and cotton is also available if you prefer it ready to use on arrival.
Care
Wipe the leather surface with a barely damp cloth; never saturate. Condition two to three times a year to keep the goat leather supple and prevent cracking. Full guidance, including storage and stain removal, is in our leather care guide.
For Trade & Bulk Buyers
Interior designers, hospitality buyers, and retail stores ordering in volume are welcome to enquire about our wholesale program for interiors, hospitality, and retail buyers — this pouf is available across all five sizes with filled or unfilled options for mixed-size runs. A considered housewarming piece for someone furnishing a home with character and warmth, it pairs naturally with our full leather pouf collection.
For placement inspiration, explore five ways to style a Moroccan pouf.
A: We offer both options! You can choose a pre-stuffed pouf with premium polyester filling ready to use, or select the unstuffed version with a bottom zipper to fill yourself. The unstuffed option dramatically reduces shipping costs and allows you to customize the firmness to your preference.
A: For a 16x16" square: 50-60 ounces of polyester fiberfill. For 18x18": 60-70 ounces. You can also use old clothes or towels—about 3/4 to one full laundry basket compressed tightly.
A: This is critical! Pack all four corners FIRST, pushing filling deep into each corner until they're very firm. Then stuff the edges, and fill the center last. Soft corners = saggy pouf. The corners should feel almost hard initially. See our complete filling guide.
A: They weren't packed firmly enough. Unzip and add more filling specifically to the corners. Square poufs need extra-firm corner packing to maintain their angular shape—this is the #1 mistake people make.
A: Very, very firm—especially in the corners. It should feel too hard when you first fill it. The square shape loses definition quickly if under-stuffed, unlike round poufs which are more forgiving.
A: Yes! When properly filled (especially the corners), this square pouf supports up to 250 pounds. Make sure corners are packed tight for stability—soft corners make it feel unstable when you sit.
A: Yes! The flat edges align perfectly with furniture and don't roll or shift. The angular top is more stable for trays, drinks, or books. It looks intentional as a table, not improvised.
A: Wipe all surfaces with a soft, dry cloth weekly—the flat top collects dust. Blot spills immediately. Pay attention to the corner seams; use a small brush to clean dust from edges. Condition the leather every 6-12 months.
A: 2-3 days for production, then 7-15 days standard shipping (USA/Europe) with free shipping. Square poufs pack flatter than round ones, making them economical to ship. Express options available.
A: Yes, handcrafted in Marrakech by master artisans. Creating perfect 90-degree corners in leather requires exceptional skill. With proper care and firm stuffing, it will last 10-20+ years. The leather develops a beautiful patina over time.
