A Dark Brown Pouf Defined by Its Stitching
This brown leather pouf is a round floor ottoman, 20.9 x 11.8 in (53 x 30 cm), hand-cut and hand-stitched from goatskin in Marrakech. The leather is hand-dyed a deep coffee brown with natural tonal shifts from panel to panel, and every panel is traced in cream running stitches, so the classic Moroccan pouf layout stands out without any embroidery. A plain round medallion, ringed in the same cream thread, sits at the center of the top.
Construction & Surface Detail
- Round shape: 20.9 x 11.8 in (53 x 30 cm), a comfortable footrest height and a low extra seat
- Goatskin leather: sourced from the Dar E-Dbagh tanneries of Marrakech and hand-dyed dark brown
- Cream contrast stitching: hand-sewn running stitches outline each panel and the top medallion
- Classic panel layout: a ring of shaped panels around the medallion, then tall pointed panels down the sides, joined with raised seams
- Zipper base: a zipper runs across the bottom panel so you can fill, top up, or reshape the pouf
- Filled or unfilled: filled arrives ready to use; unfilled ships flat, which lowers freight cost
- Slight color variation: the leather is hand-dyed, so the depth of brown varies a little from piece to piece and from the photos
Where It Works
Plain panels and cream thread make it easy to place: beside a boucle or linen sofa as a footrest, at the foot of a low bed with a throw folded on top, or next to a reading chair as a spare seat. Add a tray and it becomes a low side table for tea.
From Abdelilah’s Workshop
Each pouf is made in the workshop of Abdelilah, the master leather artisan behind our poufs, near Souk Tala’a in Marrakech. With 16 years at the craft, learned through the traditional maalem (master and apprentice) system, he and his team dye the goatskin, fit a fabric lining, cut the round pattern, and stitch every panel by hand. Tonal variation is the signature of hand-dyeing, not a flaw.
Filling the Unfilled Version
Choose unfilled and the pouf arrives flat. Fill it through the zipper with shredded foam, recycled fabric scraps, or tightly packed old clothes, and avoid feathers or loose polyfill. Our step-by-step guide to filling your pouf shows how to reach a firm, even shape.
Care
Dust with a dry cloth and wipe marks with a barely damp one; never soak the leather. Condition it two or three times a year to keep the goatskin supple. Storage and stain tips are in our leather care guide.
For Designers, Hospitality, and Retail
This pouf is available for wholesale orders. Interior designers, hotels, riads, cafés, and shops can order it in volume, on its own or mixed with other colors and shapes, through our wholesale program for interiors, hospitality, and retail buyers.
