A Handcrafted Bench Ottoman Built for Real Living Rooms
This large brown rectangular leather ottoman brings hand-stitched goatskin character to spaces that need a seat, a footrest, or a low bench surface in one piece. At 35.4 x 17.7 x 11.8 in (90 x 45 x 30 cm), it has the proportions to serve as an end-of-bed bench, an extra seat beside the sofa, or a sturdy surface for a tray — and the full-grain goat leather only improves with age. Available filled or unfilled, it ships flat by default to keep freight costs down.
Made to order in small batches — please allow 5-7 business days for production before shipping.
Construction & Dimensions
- Rectangular shape: 35.4 x 17.7 x 11.8 in (90 x 45 x 30 cm) — long enough to stretch out on, compact enough to tuck under a console
- Full-grain goat leather: soft and supple underfoot, with the natural grain structure that holds up to daily use
- Hand-stitched panel construction: each leather panel is cut by hand and joined with tight stitching along every visible seam
- Zipper base: a concealed bottom zipper lets you fill, refill, or adjust firmness yourself
- Slight color variation: tonal shifts between panels are normal for handmade leather — a mark of the craft, not a defect
- Filled or unfilled: choose the filled option for a ready-to-use seat stuffed with polystyrene foam and cotton, or select unfilled to ship flat and fill at home with shredded foam, recycled fabric scraps, or densely packed old clothing — do not use loose polyfill or feathers
- Weight capacity: holds up to ~250 lb (115 kg) when filled
The Craft Behind This Ottoman
Abdelilah, the master leather artisan behind our poufs, works in Marrakech’s Souk Talaa district, selecting full-grain goat hide for its suppleness before hand-cutting each panel to a template. The seams are stitched through both layers of leather simultaneously — a technique that distributes stress across the stitch rather than the hide, creating a raised ridge along every join. Full-grain goatskin ottomans hand-stitched in Marrakech using traditional panel construction hold their shape and seating comfort for years when properly filled and maintained.
Filling Your Ottoman
This ottoman ships flat and unfilled by default, reducing shipping weight and cost. Fill it at home with shredded foam, recycled fabric scraps, or densely packed old clothing — materials that hold shape under daily use without compressing flat. Follow our step-by-step guide to filling your pouf for recommended fill volumes and techniques to achieve a firm, even seat height.
Care
Wipe the leather surface with a barely damp cloth; never saturate. Condition two to three times a year to keep the goat hide from drying or cracking. Full guidance, including stain removal and storage, is in our leather care guide.

A: We offer both options! You can choose a pre-stuffed pouf with premium polyester filling ready to use, or select the unstuffed version with a bottom zipper to fill yourself. The unstuffed option dramatically reduces shipping costs and allows you to customize the firmness to your preference.
A: For a 16x16" square: 50-60 ounces of polyester fiberfill. For 18x18": 60-70 ounces. You can also use old clothes or towels—about 3/4 to one full laundry basket compressed tightly.
A: This is critical! Pack all four corners FIRST, pushing filling deep into each corner until they're very firm. Then stuff the edges, and fill the center last. Soft corners = saggy pouf. The corners should feel almost hard initially. See our complete filling guide.
A: They weren't packed firmly enough. Unzip and add more filling specifically to the corners. Square poufs need extra-firm corner packing to maintain their angular shape—this is the #1 mistake people make.
A: Very, very firm—especially in the corners. It should feel too hard when you first fill it. The square shape loses definition quickly if under-stuffed, unlike round poufs which are more forgiving.
A: Yes! When properly filled (especially the corners), this square pouf supports up to 250 pounds. Make sure corners are packed tight for stability—soft corners make it feel unstable when you sit.
A: Yes! The flat edges align perfectly with furniture and don't roll or shift. The angular top is more stable for trays, drinks, or books. It looks intentional as a table, not improvised.
A: Wipe all surfaces with a soft, dry cloth weekly—the flat top collects dust. Blot spills immediately. Pay attention to the corner seams; use a small brush to clean dust from edges. Condition the leather every 6-12 months.
A: 2-3 days for production, then 7-15 days standard shipping (USA/Europe) with free shipping. Square poufs pack flatter than round ones, making them economical to ship. Express options available.
A: Yes, handcrafted in Marrakech by master artisans. Creating perfect 90-degree corners in leather requires exceptional skill. With proper care and firm stuffing, it will last 10-20+ years. The leather develops a beautiful patina over time.
