A Cowhide Ottoman with a Clean Drum Shape

This cowhide ottoman is a round drum pouf with straight sides and a flat top, covered in natural hair-on cowhide and trimmed with smooth leather piping around the top edge and down the side seams. Hair-on hide is leather that keeps the animal’s short coat, so the surface is soft to the hand and carries the natural markings of the hide. It comes in two colourways, black & white and brown & white, and four sizes, from a compact 14-inch footstool to a 20-inch seat.

• 14 x 14 in (36 x 36 cm): a footstool or a seat for children’s corners
• 16 x 16 in (41 x 41 cm): footrest height for most sofas and armchairs
• 18 x 18 in (46 x 46 cm): close to standard chair seat height, a true extra seat
• 20 x 18 in (51 x 46 cm): 20 in wide and 18 in high, a broad seat or a side table for a tray
• Hair-on cowhide: side panels and top cut from natural hide, with smooth natural leather piping along the seams
• One of a kind: the size, shape and placement of the patches differ on every hide, so your ottoman will not match the photos exactly
• Filled or unfilled: filled arrives ready to use; unfilled ships flat to lower freight cost

From Abdelilah’s Workshop in Marrakech

This ottoman is cut and hand-stitched in the workshop of Abdelilah, the master leather artisan behind our poufs, near Souk Tala’a in the leather souk of Marrakech. He has 16 years of experience and runs his workshop with several craftspeople, cutting each panel to pattern and matching the hides by hand so the markings flow around the drum.

Filling the Unfilled Version

Choose unfilled and the cover arrives flat. For a drum shape that stays crisp, pack it firmly with shredded foam, recycled fabric scraps, or old clothes; avoid feathers and loose polyfill, which slump. Our step-by-step guide to filling your pouf explains how.

Caring for Hair-on Hide

Brush the hair gently in the direction it grows to lift dust, and blot spills straight away with a dry cloth; for marks, use a barely damp cloth and let it air-dry. Keep it out of long, direct sun so the colours stay even. Our leather care guide has more detail.
